10,000 words in October

OK, the die is cast and we're committed to submitting 10,000 words in the blog for October! That's not really so much, is it? After all, many English words are short, demanding minimal typing effort. We'll strive to include as many short words as possible in this month's output, and try to avoid a last-moment rush of irrelevant filler.

Since there are sundry subjects related to music, flutes and reed instruments which we've long avoided, plenty of dormant material should arise to fulfill the quota. Stay tuned for the October Renaissance! --r.

Bloody reeds

Again, pardon the site's recent silence. I've been chained to the workbench in the grinding cubicle, on a grim mission to re-enter the world of reed instruments after a three or four-year absence. Blood, sweat and tears all over the place, but it's gonna be okay.

Goal for October: 10,000 words in the blog! After all, that's only about 330 a day, and we have a lot of catchup to play. Coming right up...

New flute
done, too. --r.

September 19th

Ahoy, me hearties! This site's been drifting in the late-summer doldrums for a moon or two, so it's high time to prod the motley crew... Avast, ye scurvy bottomfeedin' bilge scum: step lively now, and fall to it brisk-like-- or taste the sting of this marlinspike on yer sluggardly bums!

Speakin' 'o fall and brisk, the sun's dipping 'neath the waves mighty early these days, and this salt air bites more chilly by the hour. The star charts say that Autumn's pulling into port soon-- aye, due this very Friday, she is. So let's seize the season, and take advantage of that sinkin' sunlight. Fall lends itself to brisk and lively piratical activity, so we'll hoist the sails and hail ye more regular-like in the near future. Scuttle those summer doldrums, lads-- and let's set full sail for some excitin' new autumn adventures! Ahrrrrr....

Is it IX/XII yet?

Is it safe to come out of the burrow yet without having to endure a tsunami of cynically manipulative political button-pushing, fearmongering, etc., etc.? --Oops, apparently not: Look out! FLÜTEDËATHH™ is gonna slaughter us all!

*Ahem* Only the Big Bamboo Party can protect you from this all-pervasive danger, so you must abandon all resistance and accept our entire agenda without question or even so much as a whisper of dissent. Now please return to the mall and resume shopping.

The recent period of late-summer inactivity here at the Complex is due to end soon, so pardon the lapse and check back shortly for more warnings of doom and destruction, tempered by a bit of creative output as well. Thanks, and do enjoy the last couple weeks of summer; you're lucky to be alive, thanks to the vigilance of the Big Bamboo Party. --r.

First post-Labor Day post

Labor Day in the rearview mirror: it happens so fast! The skirmishes of summer fly by fleetingly, and before you know it Autumn dominates the windshield panorama.

Back we are from the late summer doldrums, and in a day or two, much more shall appear in this space to supplant the stagnant negativity of late. See y'all soon... r.
